Foliage:Long, narrow, rough dark green leaves to 75cm x 6mm. Red to purple sheaths at the base of the leaves.
Flowers:Green, purple to straw-coloured flowerheads to 30cm on erect stems. Flowers from October to March.
General
Comments:

An ornamental and vigorous grass ideal for moist shady areas. Useful for mass plantings, erosion control and embankments. Tolerates periods of dryness.

Strong dense tufted perennial, spreading outwards on underground stems. Flowering stems erect, sometimes flattened below the flowerhead. Frog Habitat, Food plant for caterpillars and birds use it for food and habitat.
